Great job by the Tiverton Town Council in acquiring this key piece of property on the waterfront. The people of Tiverton have gained a piece of waterfront property that is a key part of improving and expanding the Grinnells Beach / Stone Bridge area. It was purchased without Tiverton taxpayer funds. It will be part of a plan that will enhance the value of the area, and the town in general.
It's rare to see any town complete such a win-win deal, and the Town Councilors who supported this deal, and all who worked to make it happen, deserve much credit. Despite the usual attempts by some to paint this deal in a negative way, the facts make clear this deal is a huge, long-term plus for the town. It's a clear indication of an elected body working on behalf of the people they represent, planning for the future instead of focusing on shortsighted, self-promoting gimmicks.
