Tiverton 1st is a grassroots community organization open to all who support preserving our quality of life in Tiverton by maintaining both our community and school services in a fiscally-responsible way, and promoting cooperation, compromise and community pride.
Membership is open to all Tiverton residents who are at least 18 years old & support Tiverton 1st's principles & goals (non-residents or those under 18 years old are welcome to join as non-voting members). TOLL-DELAY DEAL APPROVAL REPORTED, FINAL STATUS STILL UNCLEAR
There's still some uncertainty & conflicting reports over the status of the toll-delay deal in the House of Reps. The Turnpike & Bridge Authority and RI DOT continue to try to do all they can, contrary to our elected officials, to push tolls on the people of the East Bay. But it appears the House has approved the toll-delay deal as part of the budget. Still looking for definitive confirmation of House approval (when final budget is passed), and info on the likelihood of Senate approval and either approval by the Governor or an override of his veto. More to follow as reliable info becomes available.
